4 Months Old

Last weekend Emerson turned four months old. We went to the doctor on Thursday for the 4 month shots and well baby check-up. Our pediatrician said that Emerson looks great and is very healthy. He weighs 16 pounds 14 ounces and is 26 3/4 inches long. He is in the 90th percentile for his height and 75th percentile for his weight.

Emerson is still working on those teeth. Chad and I are ready for them to break through the gum and some Emerson's fussiness to go away. He has begun to sit up for short periods all on his own. We are spending some time each day in the bebepod to practice sitting. He has rolled from his belly to his back and has almost mastered back to belly. He loves to stand up! Sometimes when you try to take him from laying to sitting he goes straight up to the standing position.

A new milestone happened yesterday when we began solid foods. The doctor said that Emerson could start cereal and level 1 baby foods. Last night we had cereal and tonight we tried some sweet potatoes. It was the most bizarre experience trying to feed someone from a spoon that had no idea how to eat from a spoon. We both managed and Emerson got the hang of it quickly. Here are some pictures from last night and tonight of meal time.
