McCain -- Palin '08

I know that many of you are watching the presidential race coverage right now and trying to figure out who you will vote for and who will be best for our country. My grandfather lives in Alaska, has for MANY years, and sent me the following about Sarah Palin, McCain's running mate. I did not ask for his permission before posting this, so I hope he doesn't mind! Just a little insight to a new face in national politics.

"Our guv has an 80% approval rating and has done more for this state in less than two years in office than the previous governors had in the past ten years. She is death on pork barrel spending, has taken on Big Oil and the good old boy network - AND WON. She is very well respected and (we've read) was the most popular governor at the Republican governors' conference recently held in Texas. There were a LOT of surprised Alaskans when McCain selected her, because she is unknown nationally. But, come election time, I'm pretty sure everybody will know who she is. :)Interesting background: She was the Captain and point guard of her HS basketball team when they won the state championship in '82, her nickname was "the barracuda", and she was Miss Wasilla and 1st runner-up in the Miss Alaska contest and was selected Miss Congeniality. Her husband won the Iron Dog four times ( 2000 mile snowmachine race from Big Lake to Nome to Fairbanks) and is known as the "first dude". He's an oilfield production engineer, whose grandmother was a Yup'ik Eskimo. It is going to be an interesting election."

Obviously she has all the qualifications to run the largest free nation in the world, captain of her high school basketball team, Ms. Wasilla, 1st Runner up to Miss Alaska and according to John McCain (his words when summing up her qualifications), a leader in the PTA.

This is one Republican that will be voting Democrat!
