My little boy keeps getting bigger every day! I can't believe that this will be his 4th Christmas. He is very excited about Santa this year, and understands that Santa brings some presents and comes through the "fireplace". We have been reading lots of Christmas books, he loves Cars Christmas and Corduroy's Christmas. I have been really talking up going to see Santa, we have yet to go, because he has cried every year. He keeps saying, "I stand next to him" instead of sitting on his lap. We will have to see how it goes.
Emerson also knows that Christmas is Jesus' birthday. He has his Little People Nativity set up in his room and likes to carry his baby Jesus around with him. We have also been talking a lot about Jesus' mommy and daddy's names (at Emerson's request) and the three wise men. Some days he's more interested than others.
Potty training has reached a new high around here - 10 years ago I would have never expected to get so excited about peeing and pooping in the potty - Emerson is pooping about 95% of the time in the potty. He gets a "poop surprise" (thanks to my friend Christy for the idea) when he goes in the potty, and this has helped him make the transition. Our new excitment came at 4:30 a.m. this morning - Emerson got up to pee and went back to bed ALL BY HIMSELF! I was never more excited to be awakened in the night!
Emerson is obsessed with Lightening McQueen and Buzz Lightyear right now. As I type he is watching Toy Story. One of the things on his list for Santa is a "real" Buzz Lightyear. He got a stuffed one for his birthday, and now wants one that has all the bells and whistles. He loves watching both movies, and we sometimes have to cut off the TV watching - he would watch movies all day! (He gets that from his Pa-pa and Me-ma.)
Here are some things Emerson knows:
Identify all shapes
Identify all colors
Count to 15
Sing ABC song correctly
Knows some of this letters and numbers
Knows left and right (most days)
Can undress and dress himself independently
Put on and take off shoes by himself (and on the correct feet)
Put on his coat
Go to the potty by himself - pants up and down and sits on the potty independently
Retell a story with great detail
Use scissors to cut
Ride his tricycle
Walk up the stairs alternating feet
Draw a circle and attempts a triangle
Draws a picture and can tell you all about what is in the picture
Okay - so I am sure there are lots more things, but this is all that comes to mind at the moment. :)
